"LAA conducted a public outreach effort in the last couple of months targeting local printed press outlets. LAA met with and/or shared background information with 8 local newspapers and magazines. Our purpose for this effort was to broadcast the news that, finally Lake Allatoona has a community interest group to act as its voice in today's complex environment, a voice that will draw specific focus on Lake Allatoona. As "the Voice of Lake Allatoona" , the LAA briefed the news outlets on a comprehensive set of recommendations that it believes can significantly improve lake water levels and water quality without compromising other important lake needs related to flood control and generation while dramatically improving its recreation and water supply potential. This 29 point plan is intended to seek changes by the Corps of Engineers, the States and the US Congress. We call that 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 Allatoona Clean...which is shorthand for goals to raise the Lake's summer level by 2 feet, begin such levels 4 weeks earlier in the spring, hold such levels 6 weeks longer in the Fall and drawdown winter levels 8 feet less in the winter...and measurably improve the lake's water quality. Contact one of your Board Members to learn how you can help in these efforts; look for articles over the next several weeks in your community newspaper or magazine."
